Great-great-grandson Markus Pruessner informs that he is searching additional information on the life of Ernst. He also shared pre-war family documents that confirm Ernst's marriage with a local woman in Medan and the legal recognition of their first-born daughter. Markus is keen to identify and visit the place where the Van Imhoff went down.
On 9 October 1929 he legalised his relationship with mrs Lauw Tjeng Nio and their daughter Helene Pauline (Rothermund ?) at the Civil Administration office in Medan.

Certificate from the Altona District Court confirming that the guardianship documents related to Ernst Rothermund were destroyed "without a trace" as early as 1927. This certificate was issued on 22 February 1936. It is not clear whether this refers to a person under Ernst's guardianship or Ernst himself was placed under a legal guardian.
