Born in Uthmöden, Germany

Registered as "stateless", probably because he was stripped from his German citizenship before he migrated to NEI.

Retired KNIL with the rank of sergeant major. Residing in Ungaran (near Semarang) at the time of his arrest. Deported with ss Van Imhoff and drowned.

The Netherlands' War Graves Foundation (https://oorlogsgravenstichting.nl/persoon/11314/wilhelm-august-bethge) considered Wilhelm a Dutch victim of war and started to search for family members and descendants to officially recognise his official seaman's grave. The related correspondence is shown below.

In the Foundation's notes reference is made to Wilhelm's daughter Anna Emma Louisa born on 28 May 1907 and legitimised as made public by G.B. (Gouvernements Besluit) on 11 July 1923 nr 32. In 1957 her last known address was in the Havenweg in Hollandiahaven, Hollandia (Nieuw-Guinea, Irian Barat). as the wife of NN Blaaun/Blaauw.
