The ship was confiscated and Rudolf arrested in the harbour of Padang. The ship was renamed as ss Wangi Wangi.
Repatriation to Germany with Marine Jumper in February, 1947 . Married in Japan.
Rudold died in February 2004. An In Memoriam was written with many biographical details by Ernst Reiner following guidelines provided by Wilhelm Osterfeld who was an active member of the "Nippon Crew" just like Rudolf Bruns
