Born in Nakel, Wirsitz District, Province of Posen. Mobilised in Tsingtau in 1914 as corporal in the 5th Company, 3rd Sea Battalion. Interned in the Bando and Matsuyama Camps in Japan. Released in December 1919.
Migrated to the Netherlands East Indies and was employed as electrotechnician with the Municipal Public Works Department in Banjarmasin (1922). In 1940 he became employee/machinist with the MEB (?) in Makassar, Sulawesi. He was arrested in the same year and deported with the Van Imhoff in Januari 1942. Drowned.
